Carolyn Marie Johnson Cotten passed away on Friday, April 29, 2016. She was born in Durham County on May 4, 1942 to the late Otis Ray Johnson and Margie Bradley Johnson. She was a graduate of Durham High School. Carolyn was a member of Beta Sigma Phi International for 40 plus years. She was a longtime member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Raleigh. Carolyn retired from the office of Dr. Hugh F. McManus. After retirement, she established a career with Mediclaims, Inc.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Roy Kenneth Cotten. She is survived by her brother, William "Buck" Johnson of Durham.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 1, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, from 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 2, at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh.
