Cecelia Seddinger Dickson

June 15, 1960June 6, 2021

Cecelia Seddinger Dickson passed away peacefully on June 6, 2021 after a long battle with Multiple System Atrophy, a very rare and incurable neurodegenerative disease that is accompanied by Parkinson’s like symptoms.

She was born on June 15, 1960 in Dillon, SC. She was raised in Dillon and later North Myrtle Beach, SC. She attended and graduated from Columbia College in Columbia, SC. She married Thomas (Tad) W. Dickson on September 22, 1984. Early in her marriage she resided in Hong Kong with her husband and was able to travel throughout Asia and other parts of the world, which she thoroughly enjoyed. After returning to Charlotte in 1987, she devoted herself to raising her sons Will and Michael; guiding them through childhood, adolescence and early adulthood.

She was an avid gardener who loved creating beautiful settings that she enjoyed with family and friends. She loved spending time outdoors, especially in the mountains and at the coast. Her kind, selfless spirt and sweet personality made her the most loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a lasting impact on so many and adored her sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren, who knew her as “Cece.”

Although she had to navigate many difficulties in the years before she passed away, she never let go of her hopeful spirit. Her enthusiastic approach to life never faded, even amidst such a devastating disease. She embodied what it means to have courage, faith and trust in God.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Thomas W. Dickson, her son William T. Dickson and his wife Christina, their children Wade, Walt, and Lake of Raleigh, NC, and son Michael A. Dickson and his wife Nancy Stewart of Wilmington, NC. Also surviving her are her father William B. Seddinger and sisters Cathy Baxley and Angela Seddinger.

A private family service was held in Raleigh, NC on June 10th where she was laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery, close to her children and grandchildren.
