Charlie Edward Bruce, 79, passed away on April 15, 2026, leaving behind a legacy defined by love for his family, pride in his work, and a life fully lived.
Born in Lynn, Massachusetts, Charlie was the son of Simon Volovick and Estelle Pruce Solomon. He grew up in Lynn and went on to graduate with high honors from Boston College—a reflection of the drive and determination that would define his life.
Charlie’s journey took him from Massachusetts to Atlanta, where he raised his two sons, Andrew and Michael, and later to Raleigh, North Carolina, where he built both a remarkable career and a lasting love with his wife, Diane. Together, they shared 18 wonderful years of marriage filled with laughter, adventure, and deep companionship.
Known to many as “Mr. Honda,” Charlie made an unforgettable mark in the automotive industry. His work ethic, enthusiasm, and genuine care for people set him apart. He earned countless honors, including Salesman of the Year eight times and Honda’s prestigious Gold Master Award seven times. But what meant the most to him was helping others, mentoring new salespeople, and guiding them toward success with patience and pride.
Outside of work, Charlie embraced life with energy and joy. He and Diane created cherished memories traveling the world together. Exploring Europe, Greece, Spain, Italy, Hawaii, and Florida, often on cruises that became some of their favorite adventures. He loved the game of golf, but more than anything, he treasured time with his sons. Being present, sharing moments, and especially attending sporting events together. A lifelong sports fan, he and his boys were devoted supporters of the Carolina Hurricanes.
Charlie was also a proud and devoted Mason, serving as Master of his Lodge for many years, living out the values of integrity, leadership, and service.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Diane Bruce; his mother, Estelle Solomon; his sons, Andrew (Kate) and Michael (Emily); Susan (Myers) Bruce, mother of his sons; his sister, Sheila (Andrew) Brown; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Simon Volovick, and siblings Judith Lampert and Kenneth Volovick.
Charlie will be remembered for his warmth, his humor, his generosity, and the way he made people feel seen and valued. He was a man who showed up—for his family, his friends, and his colleagues—and his presence will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
A Memorial Service will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 East Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27609, US, on April 24, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
