Charles was a graduate of Georgia Southern University and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and retired from a fulfilling career as a professor and golf coach at Louisburg College. He was a devoted Christian and Sunday School teacher. Charles was also an avid golfer, delighting in playing several times a week.
Charles leaves behind his cherished wife, Ann Sloan, much-loved stepchildren, Kim Bruff (Mike), Greg Bryant (Shannon), and four beautiful granddaughters, Emily (Jacob), Margie, Sarah, and Leah. He is also survived by his sister Sheila Ash, in Evans Georgia and brother-in-law Lee Underwood (Rebecca) in Cleveland, Georgia. He was predeceased by his parents Johnie and Bernice Sloan, and his sister Christine.
