OBITUARY

Cregg Alton Andrews

September 28, 1944March 13, 2010

Cregg Alton Andrews, of Raleigh N.C. passed away March 13, 2010 at the age of 65.

He was born September 28, 1944, in Alamance County, NC to Alton and Lucille Andrews. Cregg is survived by his wife of 43 years, Eva Morris Andrews, his daughter, Tambra of Raleigh, NC, a son, Tony and Linda of Raleigh and a son, Tommy and Michelle of Rolesville, NC. Five grandchildren, Brittnie, Jesse, Bryson, Caitie and Allie.

After four years in the Navy, Cregg was employed for thirty years by the railroad, CSX Transportation. After being injured, he took an early retirement.

Cregg was full of life and never seemed to meet a stranger. His ability to remember and tell jokes entertained many over the years. He loved riding his motorcycle, camping and boating. The family spent many years camping at Kerr Lake, the mountains, the beach and then at Lake Gaston where close friendships were made. After the grandchildren came along, he turned his attention to spoiling them. After his retirement, they became the focus of his enjoyment.

Cregg’s strong will and sense of humor never faltered, even as it became apparent that he was losing his battle with lung cancer. He passed in the home surrounded by his family.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh, NC. His family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.

I met Cregg many years ago. He was known by his hunting buddies in Granville County as "Railman" and "Railroad". We always knew when he was near as he would play a train horn over the cb radio to announce his presence. He was a cheerful fellow, and made those around him appreciate living life in the right now. We miss you Railroad, and you are always there with us in spirit while we are running dogs. I wanted to express my sympathies to the family, I just heard about his passing yesterday. God Bless.

Cregg, we are going to miss you so much. You have enriched our lives with your friendship. We'll always treasure the memories of the great fun our families shared over the years. Eva, we know how much you will miss Cregg, but you can take comfort and strength from the wonderful family you and he had together as well as your extended family at the Lake. I know their love will get you through this difficult time. Eva, please let us know if we can do anything at all for you and your family. We will miss Cregg very much and we are fortunate to have been among his friends. With love, Bob and Terri Witt

Eva, after Mama died, we lost touch with you and Cregg. Fortunately, we never lost our love as you were often in our thoughts and prayers. I still smile as I recall the good times at Mama's house around the kitchen table. I can still picture Cregg drinking coffee, laughing and telling his jokes. I hope and pray that Cregg knew how very special he was to all of us.

Cregg, I love you so much. I regret that my girls will never get to know you. I will tell them about you every day and show them pictures. They may not get to enjoy you, but you will live in their memories as well as mine. I love you.
