David Lawrence German

David Lawrence German, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, 73, of Raleigh passed away on April 22, 2012. He was born to Menter Peyton and Maybrey (Evans) German in Washington, DC on September 11, 1938.

David was a graduate of Hargrave Military Academy and served in the US Naval Air Forces. Following his service of country, he was a marketing executive in the insurance industry and concluded his professional life by pursuing his love of tennis. As a certified Van Der Meer teaching pro, he developed the love and skill of the game in others, and most enjoyed coaching tennis at Ravenscroft School and The Magellan Charter School.

Favorite hobbies include fishing and boating on Lake Gaston. Spending time with beloved family and friends, he especially enjoyed. As a long time member of Trinity Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC he loved being part of the Bobbie Furr Sunday School Class.

David is survived by his wife, Charmaine Huff German of Raleigh, NC; daughter Deborah German Jones and her husband Reed of Salisbury, NC; son, David (Dirk) Lawrence German, Jr. and his wife Beth of Apex, NC; grandchildren, Reed, Taylor, James, Sarah, Grace and Mary Ellis; brother, Peyton German and his wife Janet of Raleigh, NC; sister Muriel Folsom of Potomac, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his twin brother, Daniel German.

A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Baptist Church, 4815 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27609 on Friday, April 27, 2012 at 11:00 am. A private cremation service has taken place through Brown-Wynne Funeral Home.

Family will receive visitors at Trinity Baptist Church, 4815 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27609 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 26, 2012.
