

David Clare Rink passed away Thursday evening January 28 at the age of 81. Dave was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma on September 1, 1934. His family moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and then later to Pittsburgh where he spent most of his childhood years and established strong friendships. He graduated from Crafton High School in 1952.
Dave joined the Marines in 1957 and served until 1960. He married his wife Patty in 1959 and they lived in Morehead City where he worked as an electrical engineer installing and maintaining radios and sonar equipment on commercial fishing boats and charter boats. They started a family and moved to Raleigh in 1969 where they lived in the same house in Brentwood for 46 years. Dave worked on a 19-year project for Aerotron and then later, Graham Electronics before retiring.
He is survived by his wife Patty whom he was married to for 56 years, son Michael and Michael's daughters Alaina and Julia, and son Lee and Lee's wife Judy and their daughter Samantha.
His viewing will be held at the Brown-Wynne funeral home in Raleigh on Millbrook Road on Friday, February 5 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. His funeral will be at Brown-Wynne the next day at 11:00 am with his burial service at Montlawn Cemetery at 12:15. Visitors are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, it was Dave's wish that donations are made to the Salvation Army.
