

Don Fulp passed away Sunday, February 19, 2012, with his family by his side at Rex Healthcare. Don was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in 2010, which contributed to the heart attack he suffered the previous Thursday.
Don was a beloved husband to Gail for 34 years. He was the cherished father of Meredith (Dave Mackey), David (Tiffany Hallenbeck), Alex (Katy Moxley), and Abby, and grandfather to Jackson Mackey and Sienna Fulp. He was the son of Billy and Irene Fulp and brother to Frances Fulp.
Don was a Wake Forest University class of 1977 graduate, an avid runner and fisherman, dedicated and loving family man and accomplished youth soccer coach. He touched the lives of hundreds of children over his 20 years of coaching, instilling in them the values of hard work and persistence. Over the years, his teams won countless tournament titles, including 5 North Carolina State Championships.
Don’s family will receive friends from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m., Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh, 27609. There will be a funeral service at 1:30 p.m., February 26, 2012 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 7506 Falls of Neuse Rd., Raleigh 27615. Interment will follow the service at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh 27612. In lieu of flowers, donations to the following charities would be appreciated: Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Association and US Soccer Foundation.
