She was the daughter of the late Roy and Anne Jackson. Dorothy was a graduate of East Carolina University. She taught 6th grade in Arlington, VA, Richmond, VA and at numerous Wake County Schools including Millbrook Middle School. She won several awards as an acclaimed science teacher. Dorothy was also a mentor teacher, a devoted pet owner and animal rights activist. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Vance Arnold Jr.
Surviving are: a son, Stephen Arnold of Raleigh; a sister, Linda Jackson of Greenville.
