Dorothy Mills Gunter

Dot was born in Raleigh, NC on May 11, 1930 to Eugene and Mary Lee Mills, both deceased. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Edgar Gunter Jr., and her brother, Eugene Mills, Jr. She is survived by her son, Ronald Eugene Gunter and his wife Claudia, and her sister, Elizabeth Mills Cooper of Salisbury, NC and her family.

Dot attended Raleigh Public Schools and graduated from Hugh Morrison High School in 1948. She worked for the Wolfpack Club and retired in 1995. Dot was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time playing golf with her friends. Dot always was more concerned about others than she was herself. She was a life long member of First Presbyterian Church of Raleigh. She was loved by her family and friends and will be missed by all of those she touched.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd, Raleigh, NC 27609. Burial will follow the service at Raleigh Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am -12:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to all of the staff and volunteers of Hospice of Wake County for their unselfish love and care of Dot during the final months of her life.
