A tribute to Doug Powell,
I will always remember Doug as he dressed in warm weather. He came to church dressed in suit paints, white shirt, tie, usually red and black suspenders that were 2" wide.
Doug was always in a joking mood. I remember that when we met, we were always joking. We were always in a kidding mood. Both of us tried to one up each other.
Doug was a wonderful person. That leaves only one more thing to say. Heaven is a happier place, because he is there.

Heaven has made a wonderful gain. I love your dad, a great mentor at New Hope Baptist Church, friend, and client. Over the years I learned a lot from Doug Powell and enjoyed our time together. He's in heaven and has the full use of his mind, spirit, and new body. Deborah and Paige, God Bless you both, your families, and close friends. May Christ give you the peace that can only come from him. You are and will remain in our thoughts and prayers! From the Barefoot's, Doug, Angela, Charlie, Georgeanna, and Douglas.

Paige & Deborah,
We enjoyed many memories of going to the beach as a class. The memory that I was blessed with was when your mom & dad were able to get tickets for my friend Frank & myself for the Clay Aiken
concert at the Dorton Arena in Raleigh. We all set together at the concert & enjoyed his singing.

We have known the Powell family for over40 years. We attended New Hope Baptist Church together where Deborah and Amy were always involved in activities together. Doug and Wanda were members of a Square-dancing group we participated in and had such a great time. Doug enjoyed taking videos and captured many memories of lots of activities both at church and other activities. We will miss Doug as we have Wanda but I can hear that chuckle as he is rejoicing in Heaven where we will all meet again.
