Herberta Talbot Ferguson, 99, went home to be with the Lord on March 14, 2019. Herberta was born in Mount Juliet, Tennessee, on August 20, 1919, to the late Herbert Talbot and Eunice Hudson Talbot. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Jerome C. Ferguson, and by her sister, Martha Talbot.
Herberta graduated from Mount Juliet High School in 1938 and became a student at Nashville Business School. After completing her studies, she took a job with Employers Mutual of Wausau Insurance Company, and always said that was the best job she ever had. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and china painting. She was a faithful member of Crieve Hall Church of Christ in Nashville, Tennessee, and North Raleigh Church of Christ in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Herberta is survived by her daughter, Melissa Ferguson Holland (Andy) of Raleigh, North Carolina; and granddaughters Amanda Holland and Rebekah Holland. In the last months of her life, she was blessed to receive loving care from Jessica Harris, the staff of Lawndale Manor Assisted Living, and the staff of Liberty Hospice.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2019, at Spring Hill Funeral Home (5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, Tennessee), with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in historic Spring Hill Cemetery. A celebration in honor of what would have been her 100th birthday will take place in August, 2019 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
