Edith Jackson Szyperski

Edith was born March 31, 1926 in Grimesland, NC to Virgil Alfred Jackson and Mary Nooney Jackson. The last four years of her life were spent in Raleigh at the Springmoor Retirement Community where she made great friends. Previously, she lived in Kitty Hawk from 1999–2006. Prior to moving to Kitty Hawk, she lived in Greensboro, NC from 1959-1999. Previously, she was a traditional Navy wife living in a variety of places. Edith was a loving wife and devoted mother.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John Patrick Szyperski.

Edith is survived by her five children, Ellen Teague and her husband Bill of Fort Myers, FL; Jack Szyperski and his wife Dawne of Wilmington, NC; Edie Szyperski of Raleigh; Jim Szyperski and his wife Laura of Atlanta, GA; Jeff Szyperski and his wife Wende of Weems, VA; 14 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at the Springmoor Auditorium. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private graveside service will be held at Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Springmoor Endowment Fund, 1500 Sawmill Road, Raleigh, NC 27615.
