Yesterday was one of the hardest days in recent memory. Not because of work, I'm blessed in that way. But because it marked a year since my very good friend Edward passed. I miss his wisdom, counsel, gentle southern manners, his compassion and skills. Impossible to replace, never forgotten. Clear tracks and a green board.

Noble, I am saddened and surprised to learn of Edward's death. Dr.Mark told me earlier tonight. 

Edward had a simple spirit of love and care in spite of his difficulties. 

I enjoyed seeing him during the few opportunities we shared.

We were so saddened to hear of Edwards passing. Edward always had a smile on his face anytime we saw him. We will remember that smile. Our prayers are with you.

Edward, in the dictionary under Southern Gentleman is your picture. No other definition is needed. It is hard to put into words what your friendship has meant to me and our family. You were a shoulder to lean on, and ear to bend either over lunch, on the road to a hobby shop or during those frequent phone conversations. Your humor, wisdom, guidance and warmth will be missed and not easily replaced, if at all. God speed, clear tracks and strong signals.

Noble and family, please accept my condolences. Ed was a good friend and radio buddy, all the way back to the WKNC days. There were many conversations I was intending to have with him that, sadly, won't happen. Many of us will miss him. Please let me know what I can do for you.

It has been forty years since we graduated from Salem, and our paths haven't crossed since then, but I wanted you to know that I am so very sad to hear about the sudden death of your dear husband. I can tell from the other comments here that the world is a better place because he was born, and I know he will be deeply missed by you, his family, and friends. My heart goes out to you all, and I pray that God will comfort you and richly bless you in the difficult days and weeks ahead.  Please know that the class of 72 yahoo group cares about you and would love to be a support to you. Believe it or not, we have matured and changed somewhat for the better since our Salem days, and we would love to have the chance to reconnect after all these years.

Edward will be greatly missed, both as a friend since NC State days, and as a very active participant in several amateur radio clubs.  He was a true gentleman, very rare these days, and now even more rare since he is gone. My condolences to Noble and the rest of his family.

Edward, you will be missed by your friends in the radio monitoring hobby. You were one of our most loved and most respected members and I will miss seeing you at the monthly meetings. I will also miss our phone conversations about scanning and shortwave radio listening. My thoughts and prayers are with Noble and family.

Edward will be greatly missed by all the railroading community and so many others.  Edward was the first club member to make me welcome at my first NRV meeting so many years ago.  I will miss my friend Edward.
