Elizabeth Jones Amos

Elizabeth (Libby) Amos, age 93, passed away June 3, 2021. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00pm June 8, 2021 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E Millbrook Rd, Raleigh, NC, 27609. The family will receive friends and family at 11:00am on June 9, 2021 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church (PGUMC), 4415 Pleasant Grove Church Road, Raleigh, NC, 27613, followed by a celebration of life at 12:00pm. A burial at Raleigh Memorial Park (7501 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh) will immediately follow the services.

Libby is survived by her children, Liz Corbett, Bill Amos, Kitty Pearce (Johnny), David Amos, Hal "Buddy" Amos (Betsy), Dottie Hilliard (Doug), and Gary Amos (Sharon); 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; special friends, Dee Amos and Arnette Walker; and other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill "Ed" Amos, her parents and sister, Margaret Stone.

She was born in Culpeper, VA and graduated from Culpeper High School as Valedictorian. Libby attended The College of William and Mary where she met her husband, Ed. They were married July 3, 1948 and lived in Richmond and Baltimore before moving to Raleigh.

Libby worked at NCSU where she also earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics. She taught Computer Sciences at Wake Technical College. Then she worked at NC Electric Membership cooperative as a Statistical Analysist, from which she retired.

Libby was a member of long standing at PGUMC. She enjoyed participating in Sunday school classes, Morning Glory Circle and senior lunches. One of greatest joys was volunteering as an "honorary grandmother" at Pleasant Grove Preschool.

The family would like to give special thanks to all her caregivers, especially Kim Batstone and the entire Transitions Care Team for their loving care.
