Elizabeth "Betty" Jane Miller Miller Ord

Betty was born on September 5, 1930, to the late Ethel A. Boorem and Leonard G. Miller in Scranton, PA. She graduated from Keystone College and attended the University of Pennsylvania. She was a very active member of Saint Mark’s United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, Girl Scout Leader, Mary Mark Circle member for over 25 years, Circle Chair numerous times, member of the Alter Guild, Wedding and Receptions Chairperson. She was a multi term President for the North Hills Garden Club, a volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Mobile and Meals on Wheels in addition to serving as a PTA officer and music booster for her daughter’s schools.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Paul W. Ord, and her half-sister Joyce Miller Robertson. She is survived by her daughter Susan Dixon and her husband Steve, of Raleigh, and their children Parker, Cameron and Clayton.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests that contributions be made to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.

Her family will receive friends at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh, NC on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, from 2:00-3:00 pm. Funeral service will be at 3:00 pm at the funeral home. Committal service will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
