Elizabeth Jane Lydecker

Duckie was born August 7th, 1929 in New York City. During her childhood, she grew up in Hamilton, Ohio, but graduated high school in Teaneck, NJ. She met John (Jack) Lydecker soon after he served in WWII and they were married in NJ in 1948. They lived in Bergenfield, NJ where they had a strong community of friends until they moved in 2001 to N. Royalton, Ohio. Jack and Duckie were married 62 years, until his death, in 2010. Duckie eventually moved to Raleigh in 2018 to be closer to family.

Duckie loved NY city and always regretted moving away. She loved the theater, the ballet, the symphony and her job at Bloomingdales. Her passions though were gardening, bridge, cooking, playing scrabble, her cats Oliver and Stanley and being with family and friends.

She is survived by her children: Judy (Steve) Bunnell of Littleton, CO, Martin (Mary Lou) Lydecker of FL, Evelyn Bonano of Raleigh, Dr. Chin Kim of NY, 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, brother Evan (Nan) Freund, sister Enid Hayflick and sister June Mason along with many loving nieces and nephews.

Duckie will sadly be missed and will be remembered in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, please consider planting a flower in her memory or donating to the Arts.
