Born in Rocky Mount she attended East Carolina before becoming involved in the WWII home front. She was a teletype operator in Greenville where she met her late husband Sgt Richard P. Reim, USMC at a USO dance.
In 1957 they moved to Newport near Cherry Point Marine Base. She was very involved in the Baptist Church playing the piano, then organ and director of the choir. She worked at Wachovia Bank in Morehead City and became one of the few female Branch Managers at Wachovia. After retiring from Wachovia, she and Dick traveled for many years before moving to Raleigh to be close to their children. There she found Trinity Baptist Church. Connie became a member, being ordained a deacon and was subsequently honored as the first female Chair of the Diaconate. Connie always volunteered and worked with the Wake County Cancer Soc. for many years.
She is survived by her son, Richard, his wife Bonnie, her daughter Phyllis Kitchens and husband John, 5 grandchildren, Jason, Chris, Erin, Charley, Rachel and her granddaughter Jasmine.
Visitation with the family will be held Wednesday from 7 – 9pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home 1701 East Millbrook Rd. Funeral services will be held at 11am Thursday at Trinity Baptist Church 4815 Six Forks Rd. Burial to follow at Raleigh Memorial Gardens.
Our appreciation to Hospisc of Wake County who went above and beyond to help Connie and the family in her last days.
