Frank A. Pollard passed away on January 12, 2022 after a brief illness. He was 91. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Carla Stiegler Pollard and a son, F. Alan Pollard, II. He is survived by son Thomas Ottomar Pollard, four grandchildren, and three great grandsons.
A native of Essex County, New Jersey, Frank, then known by his middle name, graduated from Millburn High School and Yale University’s Engineering School of Engineering. He then entered U.S. Navy Officer Candidate School and was commissioned in October 1952. Frank served his active duty on a ship based at the Philadelphia Navy Yard whose purpose was to train naval reservists on their annual cruises. Upon completing his tour in October 1955, he entered the Technical Marketing program of General Electric Company. During a lengthy assignment at the plant in Erie, PA, he met and married Carla.
During his years in Erie, he also had a part-time job as Choir Director for the Lawrence Park Methodist Church.
The family moved to New Jersey in 1960, as Frank accepted a permanent position as a transportation sale engineer in GE’s Philadelphia Office. Eventually dealing with a wide variety of industrial products made by GE, Frank remained in Philadelphia until 1978, when he was transferred to the Raleigh (NC) office, to continue the same type of sale activity, but to a new group of industrial customers.
Frank retired in 1990, after 35 years of service with General Electric.
