Gary Clark Briney, 77, died August 23, 2017, at his home in Raleigh. He was born in Canton, IL, on May 29, 1940, to Grover Woodrow and Meryle Rose Briney. After earning his Ph.D. in organic chemistry at the University of Iowa, Gary worked for DuPont as a research scientist for more than 40 years.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Emily, daughters Amanda Innes of CT and Rebecca Briney of NY, and grandchildren Tyler, Toby, Taite, and Tess.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kent Lee Briney of IL.
Services will be private.
