Gaston Donald Perry II

Gaston Perry, 91, passed away peacefully at home on April 9, 2022. He was a Wake County native who retired from Westinghouse after 36 years of service. He was an alumnus of Needham Broughton High School in Raleigh and North Carolina State College of Agriculture and Engineering. He is survived by his son Walter Perry III and sisters Carolyn Swindell & Anna Beachem. Gaston was preceded by wife of 57 years, Agnes Perry, who worked for the North Carolina General Assembly for 37 years. She was awarded the North Carolina Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award by the Governor for her service to the State of North Carolina. HIs father was Lt Col Walter Perry, who was recipient of a Silver Star in World War I. His mother was Annie Perry and his sisters included Jean, Celeste, Kathleen and Dorothy. Gaston was greatly influenced by his brother, Walter Perry, Jr. who served in the 8th Air Force 357th Fighter Group and was a P-51 Mustang fighter pilot who flew 19 missions earning the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, six Oak Leaf Clusters and a Purple Heart. He was killed in action on December 23, 1944, at Prum Germany due to wing failure.

Gaston was a longtime avid golfer who luckily had a hole-in-one. He was two-term past president of the AMBUCS Raleigh Chapter. He was a historian on the P-51 Mustang with the Rolls-Royce V-12 engine. He was also a member of First Baptist Church in Raleigh since 1959 and enjoyed being a part of the Everett Miller Friendship Sunday School Class.

Arrangements by Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1710 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, where the family will receive friends from 4:00-6:30 pm on Friday, April 15, 2022. A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church, 99 N Salisbury Street, Raleigh, on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 10:30 a.m.
