Guido J. Mulattieri transitioned on Thursday, September 11, 2014. Guido suffered an aorta dissection on August 31st. Being the tenacious man that he is, he hung on for twelve days allowing friends and family an opportunity to visit with him before his passing.
On November 26, 1928, Guido J. Mulattieri was born and grew up in Hyde Park, Massachusetts. The youngest child of Vincenza and John Baptista Mulattieri, he is survived by his older sister Lucy Siebert of Massachusetts and
brotherDominic Mulattieri of Florida. He attended Hyde Park High School and then served in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean War.
In 1955, Guido married Kathleen C. Trapani who passed away in 2006. Their marriage produced the births of three daughters that survive him; Dianne (D'Marie) Mulattieri (Orange, California), Kathryn (Kathy) Johnson (Raleigh, NC) and Susan Thoren (Dania Beach, Florida). Guido is also survived by his son-in-law, David Thoren (Dania Beach, Florida); two grandsons, John Avritt (Pensacola, Florida) and Jarad Avritt (Dubai, UAE); three granddaughters, Laura Johnson and Nina Johnson, (both of Glendale, AZ), and Kristina Thoren (Dania Beach, Florida) and one great grandson, Roberto A. Avritt (Pensecola, Florida).
Guido worked for Siemens for forty years, starting as a tool and die maker and working his way up to senior manufacturing engineer. He was responsible for opening two Siemens manufacturing plants, training the initial employee, first in Jackson, Mississippi (1973) and then in Zebulon, North Carolina (1979). Guido loved music, nature, animals and living in Raleigh. He retired in September 1990 and decided to live out his retirement in North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 14,2014 at 11:30 a.m. at Raleigh Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. The family will receive friends and relatives from 11:00 am until 11:30 am at Raleigh Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel.
