Harold Lamar Gibson, 66, of Raleigh, NC passed away on January 14, 2013. Lamar was born in Albemarle, NC on October 7, 1946, to Jesse and Clara Gibson.

After graduation from Garner High School, Lamar joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a loving husband and father who adored his three grandchildren. He loved hunting, fishing and coin collecting. Lamar will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Lamar was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Gibson, and his sister, Sharon Haines. He is survived by his wife, Debera Elaine Guins Gibson; Daughter, Lisa Danielle Gibson Petrie, and her husband, Jimmy, and their daughter, Bentley Victoria; son, Travis Lamar Gibson, and his sons, Johny Travis and Joey Lamar; and his mother, Clara Lucille Gibson.

A Celebration of Lamar’s Life will be held Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 6:00 pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh NC 27609. His family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard St., Alexandria, VA 22311 or Earpsboro Hunting Club, 115 Bailey Farm Rd., Zebulon, NC 27597.

Debera, Travis and Family our entire family is sadden to learn of Larmar's passing. Stephen called me last night and told me he had read it in the paper. I have fun memories of all the baseball games we all when to as our kids were growing up. I saw Larmar about six months ago at some convenient store on Falls of Neuse Road.
