Throughout her life, Janey’s vivacious and adventurous spirit allowed her to live life to the fullest. She was passionate about motorcycles, motorcycle road racing and automobiles. She was a longtime member of the Tarheel Traveler’s BMW Motorcycle Club and a proud member of the Carolina Jaguar Club.
Janey enjoyed music, art, film, architecture, history and traveling. Janey also had an incredible work ethic, and continued to work as Office Manager for Capital City Homes in Raleigh throughout her illness.
Janey is survived by her devoted husband, Martin Heath (Raleigh, NC); son and daughter-in-law Michael and Briget Highberger (Melbourne Beach, FL); stepson Karl Heath and stepdaughter Melody Heath Ingelsby (both of Greensboro, NC); granddaughters Morgan and Kylie Highberger; her loving parents Anne Mae and Karl Kanipe (Titusville, FL); sisters Colleen Kanipe, Patricia Kathleen Oakes, and Kris Kelly Ratay; niece Nicole Ratay; and additional family, many friends and co-workers who all loved and cherished Janey for everything she brought to their lives.
A celebration of Janey’s life will be held Thursday, March 12th, from 7:00PM until 10:00PM at Las Margaritas Restaurant (7341 Six Forks Road, Raleigh NC). The family will receive visitors on Friday, March 13th at 1:00PM at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home (1701 E Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC) and funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Janey’s honor to the Wake County SPCA or to the Wounded Warrior Project.
