Jerrold “Jerry” Stacy Robinson, Jr. was born March 16, 1954 in Raleigh, North Carolina to Jerrold Stacy Robinson and Lynn Watlington Robinson. He grew up in Raleigh and attended both Broughton and Enloe High Schools where he was an outstanding tennis player, winning the state double championship. He graduated with a business degree from Furman University where he was a varsity tennis player and team captain.
Jerry moved to Rocky Mount after graduation and married his beloved wife Tina. In Rocky Mount, he was first the tennis pro at Benvenue Country Club and then an agent at Equitable Life Insurance. He spent the majority of his career as a stockbroker first with Carolina Securities and then with A. G. Edwards. He remained an active tennis player for many years, winning the father-son State championship with his father as well as many regional titles. He also was a very fine golfer.
After he retired, he moved to Chapel Hill and then to Raleigh. Jerry loved his family, his dogs, his work, and sports. He passed away peacefully December 11, 2018.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 41 years, Tina Blackley Robinson, sister Laura Robinson Wadlington (Bill), brother in law Jake Blackley (Lauren), nephews Will and Joe Wadlington and Andrew and Jonathan (Kaycey) Blackley and dear friends Dr. Jim, Sally, and Wright Jackson. His family would also like to thank Dr. Robert Smithson and his office for his their exceptional care over the years and Rex Hospital’s intensive care unit for care in his last hours.
His memorial service will be at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC on December 16, 2018 at 4:00 pm. Receiving of friends will follow immediately after.
