Jerry was born on September 27, 1936 in Wendell, NC to the late Melvin and Edith Lovelace. He graduated from Wendell High School in 1954 and then attended Emmaus Bible College.
Jerry married Mary Pope in 1956. Together they raised four boys.
Jerry loved music. He was a gifted baritone in a quartet and was also the choir director at North Raleigh Chapel.
Jerry loved studying maps both of this era and of Biblical times. Jerry enjoyed people! He never met a stranger and could carry on a conversation with anyone. He especially enjoyed meeting people from other cultures and nationalities and trying to add words from their languages to his vocabulary.
Nothing in life brought Jerry greater joy than knowing Jesus Christ as his Savior. Over the years, Jerry mentored many people in church and never missed an opportunity to share the Truth of having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Even after a heart attack and other physical ailments, Jerry would make time every day to read and study his Bible.
Jerry started his career selling pianos and organs with Stephenson Music Company. He moved from there to a career with American Lease Planning. Not wanting to move his family away from Raleigh a few years later, he resigned and in 1976, he started Creative Acoustics which is still owned and operated by 2 of his sons.
