

Joseph Francis Kronenwetter, 86, formally of Raleigh, NC, passed peaceful on January 7, 2016 in Charlotte, NC. He was born on September 21, 1929 in St. Marys, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Herman and Delores Fritz Kronenwetter. He began his military career in the U. S. Army at the age of eighteen and retired as a Master Sergeant after 23 years of proudly serving his country. His career included tours of duty in Korea and Vietnam. After retiring from the military, he began a second career as office manager for David G. Allen Tile Company in Raleigh, NC.
Known as "Pops" by his grandchildren, he was family- centered and a devoted Christian, who was a long-time member of Saint Raphael Catholic Church. Joe appreciated the simple pleasures of life including camping, gardening and fishing. Joe served his community throughout his life through extensive involvement in many charitable organizations including his church and Inter-Faith Food Shuttle.
Joe was preceded in death by Betty Sue, his loving wife of 38 years and his siblings; Grace Marie, Howard, Norman, and Richard. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in- law, William and Penny of Charlotte, NC, Stephen and Penney of Southport, NC, Eric and Betty Gail of Whiteville, NC, Jeffery and Tammy of Arnold, MD, 11 grandchildren (Rian, Tyler, Kelly, William, Jr., Katie, Zach, Christopher, Jessica, Dennis, Joey, Bryce) and 1 great grandchild (Brantley). He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Eugene and Patricia of PA, and sister-in-laws Sandra Kronenwetter, Nancy Kronenwetter and Betty Safrit.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday January 12, 2016 at 10:00 am at Saint Raphael Catholic Church, 5801 Falls of Neuse Rd., Raleigh, NC. The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am. A reception at the church will follow, and graveside service at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens, 770 Stadium Dr., Wake Forest, NC immediately after at 2:00 pm.
