Joseph (Joe) Allen Melton, 52, of Raleigh, passed away suddenly on April 30, 2013. Joe was born and raised in Raleigh and lived here most of his life. He went to Sanderson High School and graduated, with a B.S. in mechanical engineering, from N.C. State, in 1995. He worked for Wilo USA LLC, and through his job was able to visit many other countries. He was a tremendously hard worker for his company and will be missed.
He loved the N.C. State Wolfpack and Carolina Hurricanes. Joe spent many special nights watching the ‘Canes with Laurel and Cindy.
He loved his family with a fierceness that will be forever missed. He was so proud Laurel is attending his alma mater and will graduate in December. He called her his “Little Sunshine.” He was also proud of Jackson’s “Outstanding Middle School Student” award received in 2011 from the Elks club and the work he does at church. Jackson attends Research Triangle High School and Joe called him “My Little Buddy.” Joe was a man of great character, and his family will miss him.
Joe is survived by his parents, Alton and Ginger Melton, of Raleigh; the love of his life, Cynthia (Cindy) Mitchell; his daughter, Laurel Angelica Melton; his son, Jackson Timothy Melton; his brother, Dr. Al Melton and wife Donna; nieces and nephews, Sarah (Wes) Risch, Timothy Melton, Josie (greatneice), Winston and Angela Bowden, Mallory and Beckley Page; and many other cousins, aunts and uncles.
