Joseph Eugene Nix (Joe) transitioned peacefully to Heaven on July 20, 2020 at 71 years young. He was born in Pickens, SC on May 5, 1949, the third of seven siblings. Joe was fun loving and well liked. He was a devoted family man with an admirable work ethic. He was known for his goofy laugh, contagious smile, and desire to help others. Joe made a beeline to hold babies. He loved all the little children.

Joe was a standout student and athlete, graduating in 1967 from Parker High School in Greenville, SC. Among many other things Joe played quarterback and held class offices. He is remembered fondly by his friends as always being an encouragement to others and always bringing a smile to their faces.

He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of South Carolina. He proudly served as the Chief Financial Officer for ComputerNet Resource Group in High Point, NC for the past twenty-four years. He drove a great distance daily to work with this group and thought of them as his own family. The dedication to his boss, Tim Sessoms, is why he would never retire.

Joe is survived by his devoted wife Brenda; cherished children, Joey Nix (Allie), Ashley Allen (Corey), and Bryant Nix. He was a proud Papa to Joseph Watts, Pearson Carter, Emalyn Grace, and Lily Anabelle. He is also survived by his siblings; Saundra Hunter (Jerry), Vicky Poston (preceded in death by Larry), Faye Gibson (preceded in death by Mike), Stanley Nix (Felicia), and Mike Nix (Becky). He was preceded in death by his parents; Earnest Ray and Edna Mae Nix and his little sister, Kim Farmer (surviving husband Donnie).

Joe was a selfless and devoted husband and father and a loving and proud Papa. He was the biggest fan of all of his children. He rarely missed a sporting or extracurricular event for his children and grandchildren. He loved the Gamecocks. He loved Duke football. He loved golf. He was goofy. He loved to shag. He loved to sing Lionel Ritchie songs. He was an avid listener of talk radio. He let his grandchildren climb all over him. He was the world’s best Papa. His birthday was Cinco de Mayo. He loved carrot cake. He loved his family. His family loved him. He will be deeply missed.

The greatest gift he gave his family was his love for Christ. Because of the legacy of faith that was established early on, we can rest in the comfort of knowing we will see him again one day. But for now, we can rest in the comfort of knowing he is walking those STREETS OF GOLD.

“For God so loved the world that He gave his only son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.

A visitation will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd, Raleigh from 11am – 12pm with a memorial service following at 1:00pm at Trinity Baptist Church, 4815 Six Forks Rd, Raleigh, on Saturday, August 1, 2020.

Donations may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Society.

I’m very sad to hear about Joe. He was a great guy and I really enjoyed the crazy times we shared.

He also was an excellent co-worker at EY and always made me proud.

He will be missed.

I watched his ceremony online today and he obviously has made the world better.

Sorry for the loss you and your family have endured.

Mr. Nix (bc I will always be a kid to him) is someone that loved and raised the most incredible family that has been invaluable to me over the years . He was a man of loyalty, a love for the lord, and a steadfast reliance in what he cared for! I love you and will miss you dearly.
