

She worked in various departments in healthcare, spending 26 years with St. Mary’s Hospital. Most notably, her wonderful people skills made her a huge asset in recruiting new hospital employees.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David T. Cooke, parents Ruth McGuire and Leonard Hill Taylor, sister Margaret Heath and brother Leonard Taylor.
Julie and Dave were married on January 3, 1998 in Blackstone, Virginia – a place that was very dear to them both. While their primary residence was in Raleigh, North Carolina they spent many enjoyable times over the years at their second home in Harkers Island, NC. Julie loved spending time at the ocean. She loved sewing and made many special outfits for those she loved. She also loved sitting next to Dave cheering on the NCSU Wolfpack basketball team.
Julie was passionate about music and enjoyed sharing that love with others. Her favorite song was “Driftwood” by The Moody Blues.
As a member of a worldwide fellowship of like-minded people for over 40 years, Julie touched the lives of many – traveling to retreats and always sharing a smile and kind words with everyone she met.
Julie is survived by her four children George Ellis Redford (Emily), Laura Stankiewicz (Steven), Julie Hutchinson, and Robin Redford. Also left to cherish her memory are her five grandchildren: Heather Redford, Abigail Hutchinson, Kyle Hutchinson, Blake Warmbrod, and Alex Warmbrod as well as five nieces and nephews.
The celebration of life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Brown Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd, Raleigh, NC. Sam Grigsby will be officiating. The family will receive visitors following the service.
