

Many things can be said about Kirby Lane Core. Known to friends and acquaintances as a friendly, energetic, empathetic and decisive man, his compassionate nature would always shine through, revealing his charm, warmth and conscientious demeanor. He was warmhearted, gentle and organized in all the things he sought to accomplish. Kirby was a mentor, a natural “teacher” capable of seeing things clearly, leading others and bringing out the best in all of those around him. He generally had a focus on harmony and peace.
Kirby was born on March 12, 1993 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC. His parents were Tom and Kathy Core. Kirby was raised in Youngsville and Wake Forest NC. He was named after his Dad's favorite Minnesota Twins baseball player Kirby Puckett. When he was young, Kirby's friends and family found that “straightforward” and “funny” were perfect words to describe him. Even as a child, Kirby demonstrated strong qualities of willfulness, perceptive ability and a disposition that was enjoyable to those around him. He obtained many affectionate nicknames as a youngster including "The Kirbinator", "The K- Kid" and "The Kirbster". A family favorite was "Lil Oot."
Kirby grew up with no siblings, however was constantly involved in all sorts of activities with his family. He was even-tempered, taking care not to get involved in too many family conflicts. This quality served him well, in perpetually bringing harmony, understanding and a sense of peace to the family. Kirby carried these traits into his adult life and served as one of many reasons why family and friends found him pleasurable and delightful to be around. Kirby was a person who genuinely understood and cared for others, making powerful connections with those he knew.
As a young boy, Kirby was imaginative, ingenious, clever and a “novel” thinker. He was known for his "Kirbyisms", quick witty sayings only he could come up with. Regardless of whether his peers were older or younger, or came from different backgrounds, Kirby could easily relate to other kids. He was an active child who took part in youth baseball leagues. In his spare time he liked to garden, listen to music and animals, and especially horse back riding. He loved hiking and camping with his Grandparents as a youngster. However, to Kirby, the most fun to be had was simply playing guitar and spending time with his many friends. It seemed like he could play any musical instrument he picked up, piano with Aunt Linda, guitar and bass with Uncle J.B. and trumpet in school bands. His favorite bands include Metallica, The Misfits, Dehlia Low, Billy Joel, Bob Marley, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Alicia Keyes. He loved listing to Bob Dylan with his Dad, and named his dog after his Mom's favorite singer, Emmy Lou Harris.
During his high school years, Kirby had a natural flair for cheering on and applauding just about everyone. He was constantly offering his support and encouragement to fellow members of the groups and activities in which he participated. He genuinely enjoyed telling stories in a way that drew people to him. In this way, Kirby had a talent for becoming the center of attention, a kind of social catalyst. Kirby was often found to be the lead person facilitating a group activity, frequently filling the role of being “the life of the party.” Teachers and classmates knew Kirby as an excellent listener. He placed a high value on learning and always understood that there was a new lesson to be grasped waiting for him just around the corner.
Always considered a “good” friend, Kirby sought to understand the things that others enjoyed. For this reason Kirby always seemed to possess a never-ending collection of acquaintances. Kirby’s friends found him easy to know and get along with because of his talent for being socially at ease, adept at conversation, and always amiable in his dealings with others. Kirby would always seek to learn what his friends enjoyed, and he would go out of his way to make sure that their needs were met. Kirby was always seen as the type of person who was the more gracious giver. In fact, he sometimes felt ill at ease when he was the one on the receiving end. Throughout his life he had many friends. While growing up, some of his best friends were Forrest Corbett, Ashley Long, Will Waters, and Josh Rogers.
Kirby experienced success in his work life over and over again. His primary occupation was landscaping and Electrician Helper. He was employed with MSF Electrical. Kirby always made the effort to understand what was needed at work, and was well known by his colleagues as a team player. Kirby took pride in managing his professional responsibilities and seemed to always know what was necessary to successfully complete a project. Kirby was one to take the initiative and his skills at working cooperatively were highly valued. Kirby continually sought to learn what his co-workers did well and how they were most effective, a talent that enabled him to help them develop their own potential.
Because he was organized and methodical, Kirby took great pleasure in his various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were music and gardening. Kirby enjoyed sharing his passions with others and could singularly focus on one hobby at a time.
Kirby derived much satisfaction from sports. Because he was so instinctive and could always grasp the big picture, Kirby delighted in the strategy and inner workings of a competition. Kirby was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed watching his favorite teams' events whenever he got the opportunity. Tops on his list were Carolina Panthers Football games. He was also an avid cooking enthusiast and had toyed with the idea of attending culinary school.
Kirby enjoyed traveling, and favorite vacations included NC Outer Banks and Blowing Rock, NC. He visited family in Texas and Minnesota on family vacations.
Kirby was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. One of Kirby's favorite's is a beagle mix name EmmyLou. They were best friends for over 8 years to present. His family was rounded out by his cats KC Bell, Girlfriend, WillyWay and Savage. His daughter Georgia May is due January 16,2022.
Kirby passed away on October 23, 2021 at home. He is predeceased by his Grandfathers Glenn Core, and Gerald Brueggeman. He is survived by his parents Tom and Kathy Core, paternal Grandmother Shannon Core, Patricia Brueggeman and Aunts Beth Childress, Linda Hunt, Jessica Brueggeman, and Priscilla Core- Miner; Uncles Stephen, Jeff and J.B. Brueggeman; cousins Heath Mann, Gray Brueggeman, Carolyn Brueggeman, Allen and Michael Core, and Bud and Dylan Brueggeman.
Throughout his life, Kirby was a gregarious child and an enthusiastic man. He was generous in sharing his personal attributes, giving and helping those he knew and loved. Kirby had his personal struggles in life but always looked to a bright and happy future. He was imaginative, original, tender-hearted and easy to get along with. Kirby leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and cherished memories. Everyone whose lives he touched will dearly remember Kirby Lane Core.
