God called Lee home as he stood at the peak of a mountain taking in one of the most spectacular views of the snow-covered Teton Mountains in all their splendor. From the moment of his birth, he brought joy and laughter to the lives of everyone.
An avid outdoorsman, Lee found joy in nature and the many adventures this world offers. He was mesmerized by the beauty of Earth from the mountains to the coast. He loved the thrill of the challenge whether it was the wind in his face as he snowboarded in the Rocky Mountains or the rush of the cold waters of the Gallatin and Yellowstone Rivers while fly fishing. He enjoyed getting his hands in the dirt, planting flowers, shrubs and bulbs. With excitement, he looked forward to Spring bringing forth beautiful hues of purples (his favorite color) and whites.
Lee also loved to cook and often prepared amazing meals that he shared with his family and friends. He was employed at Grand Targhee Resort in the kitchen of their main restaurant where he was able to use his culinary skills and learn from a world-class chef.
The past six months of Lee’s life have been some of the most rewarding and joyful of all. After many years of struggle, he claimed sobriety in a way that profoundly enriched the lives of all around him including his AA fellowship. He has lived these six months with clarity, a depth of faith, and purpose that evaded him for years. Sobriety brought him a new zest for life and relationships. Lee recently described himself: “I already feel that yearning to ‘do some good in this world.’ I strive to live in the present and not overlook personal interactions in my daily life; an opportunity to be of service or just listen to those in my current bubble. As an individual, I’ve never experienced such a state of soundness; physically, mentally, and spiritually.”
Lee is survived by a large parental influence (Debbi Johnson, Henry and Andrea Kidd, Quinn Koontz, and Victoria Wright), his siblings (Andy Lemonds and sister-in-law Hillary, Anna, Natalie, and Tyler Kidd), along with many caring aunts, uncles, cousins, and his nephew, Daniel; all who loved him very much.
A service in celebration of Lee’s life will be held at 3pm on Saturday, January 14th, 2017 at Greystone Baptist Church, Raleigh, NC. A time of visitation and reflection will follow in the church Fellowship Hall.
