Leon Stewart, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, October 3rd, 2018 at Hospice Home in High Point, NC surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 12, 1937 in Spartanburg, SC to the late Gene and Celia Belle Stewart. He began his career as a brick mason and soon became a master builder of custom homes. Although he enjoyed building homes, his greatest love became God and Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church after being sanctified at the age of 14 in Norfolk, Virginia. In 1958, Leon married the love of his life, Ruthie, who survives. Throughout his life, he moved to several locations to help establish churches, including Memphis, Tennessee, Charlotte, Wilmington and Greensboro, North Carolina. He held several offices in the church including ordained minister, member of Board No. 1 and Senior Deacon.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two children, Leon Stewart, Jr. and Cindy Mustin (Gene), five grandchildren, Allie and Sara Stewart; Olivia, Emma and Gray Mustin; one sister, Doris Collier (Bernard) and a host of family and friends.
His family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, October 6th, 2018 from 7:00-9:00 pm at Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church, 2500 North Highway 41, Fort Valley, Georgia. The funeral service will be Sunday, October 7th at the Church at 2:00pm. Interment will follow at the Church cemetery.
