Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:30 with funeral service immediately following Saturday January 26, 2019 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home 1701 Millbrook Rd. Raleigh, NC 27609. A catered reception with the family will follow the service.
Louis was born in Rochester, NY to Frank and Elizabeth Di Gregorio on September 27, 1930. He attended St. Ambrose School, Aquinas Institute and graduated from St. John Fisher College with his BBA in 1957. He married Ethel (Dee) Shaw-Di Gregorio on 2/16/1953 in Rochester, NY. Louis was an employee of Eastman Kodak for over 30 years in various management positions, in Rochester, NY and Windsor, CO. He was a veteran of the Korean War and retired from the USMCR as a Sgt. Major with over 30 years of honorable service. Louis was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal.
Louis was actively involved in sports as a young man in Rochester. He played baseball with the Flower City American Legion and held a variety of jobs with the Local Times Union Gannett. These experiences served him well in later life. He always had a joke for everyone and one of his greatest joys was food and cooking for others. He had a place for all at his table.
Louis is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Di Gregorio and Elizabeth (“Libby”) Lacagnina-Di Gregorio.
Louis is survived by his spouse: Ethel Di Gregorio: children and spouses: Tom (Carolyn) Di Gregorio, Marcia (Glenn) Gargano all of Raleigh, NC, Michele Di Gregorio (Bruce Bunnell) of San Anselmo, CA brother: Michael Di Gregorio (Gail Cotrell) of Springfield, Ohio. Louis is survived by three grandchildren: Courtney (Matt) Morris, Sean Bunnell, and Lucas Gargano and four great grandchildren Ashlynn, Charleigh, Parker and Paxton.
Memorials may be given to Transitions LifeCare Hospice in Raleigh NC or the Sisters of Mercy (Blossom Rd. Rochester, NY). The family of Louis M.
