Margaret Terry Harp

Margaret Audrey Terry Harp, age 92 years, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away on December 17, 2022. Margaret was born in Wake County, North Carolina and attended Millbrook School in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was married to Thompson Chalmers Harp on August 6, 1950; they were married for 44 years.

Margaret worked as a dime store clerk as a young woman, prior to her marriage to Thompson. After her marriage, Margaret was a mother and homemaker, movie theater clerk, and an entrepreneur. She enjoyed working in her yard, attending to her grandchildren, and going to Emerald Isle, North Carolina. She was also active in Creedmoor Road Baptist Church.

Margaret is survived by her three children and one foster child: Roy Harp, wife Maria; Glenn Harp, wife Julie; Stephanie Oriez, husband Rick and foster child, Terry Howell, wife Tina. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Melissa, Glenn, Jr., and Geremy Harp; Jonathan, Miles and Morgan Moore; and Nicole Everette. Additionally, Margaret has sixteen great grandchildren: Jenna, Alexa, Joel, Dilon, Claire, and Wyatt Harp; Ella, Ruby, Ever, Jordan, Derek, Wyatt, Thomas and Lilly Moore; and Otis and Stella Everette.

Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Thompson Harp; brothers, Linwood and Marvin Terry; sisters, Lula Mae Harp and Myrtle Virginia Wright and son-in-law, Donald Moore.

The celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Creedmoor Road Baptist Church, Raleigh, North Carolina. Pastor Danny Estave of Creedmoor Road Baptist Church will be officiating. Visitation will precede the funeral service at 10:00 am on December 21, 2022 at Creedmoor Road Baptist Church. Graveside service to immediately follow the funeral service at the Terry Family Graveyard on Leadmine Road, Raleigh, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The family of Margaret Audrey Terry Harp wishes to thank the staff of Sunrise of North Hills Assisted Care Facility, the Covington Memory Care Unit, and Transitions Lifecare.
