Oh, Ms. Tan! You were one Martin's and my favorite clients!! Your no bones approach to life and what was important was easy to see. I loved your humor and that you could talk about anything! I will miss you, truly.

Dr. Eunice Tan was a class act, always attentive to me as one of her daughter's shyer friends. I remember her often shooing me away from tidying up at birthday parties, to say clean-up was her job, and that mine was to be with the friends. When I hesitated, not knowing how to tell her that all the high energy dancing was a bit too much for me, blurting out merely that I didn't know how to dance...she must've paused, she gave me a look of disbelief, but she took my hesitation seriously....perhaps she called your older sister over, and had Steph or Jen lead me back to the group of girls....or maybe she dryly responded that if I could walk I could dance.....maybe I'm merging multiple dance parties and playdates into one memory.....the details are fuzzy, but to this day I am grateful that your mom noticed me and acted with kindness. She seemed to grasp that I needed a nudge, occasionally, to act my age. 

With silent wonder and an observer's distance, I marveled at how your mother cared for your father -- and all of you -- in the aftermath of his stroke and debilitation. A long time ago, in a diary packed away, I wrote a list of 20 couples, real and fictional, who inspired me, and your parents are on it. Your mother's example stands out to me as a shining witness of the marriage vows to support each other in sickness and in health, in good times and bad. 

And she was fun, and had a good laugh and sweet smile. I chatted with her occasionally on a more grownup basis during visits home when Rachana or Vikki needed a ride, I distinctly remember one conversation about how to balance work and family life: she basically said I'd make it work when my time came. While never being critical of my own mother's choices, she gently hinted that my mom's life decisions need not be my own. I also recall 

The last times I saw her surrounded by all of you were at Kathy's wedding and at your dad's funeral. In the years since, she must've loved watching each of you thrive at work and at home, and to have you all nearby in NC with all of her growing grandchildren.

I remember Dr. Tan from when our daughters were in school together.  She was very kind and thoughtful.  My deepest condolences to Kathy and her family.

Please accept our condolences on the passing of you mother and grandma, Eunice.  She was a devoted wife, mother and physician. It was an ongoing pleasure to call her a colleague, to see her busy at the work of a medical doctor and medical director intensely involved and concerned about the welfare of her patients as well as the staff caring for them.  She remained steadfast in her opinions of proper medical and nursing care and relentless in their pursuits throughout her career.  She loved her family and spoke often of the accomplishments of her daughters.  When it became time for her to join the family in North Carolina, her generous and caring demeanor simply shifted south from New York and adapted to the needs and opportunities of her family and neighbors.  In New York we missed her but knew that in North Carolina she was happy and equally loved and surrounded by those who respected her high ethical standards and her determination to be a good person.  We will remember Eunice.

As a psychiatric consultant to  St. Joseph's nursing home I had frequent contact with Dr. Tan. No physician could be more caring for and knowledgeable about her or his patients than she was.

I remember Dr. Tan's smile since when I was a child and went over to Kathy's house.  Over the years, my respect and admiration for Dr. Tan only grew.  She was an exceptionally strong, intelligent and kind individual who loved her family dearly.  My deepest condolences to her family.

Dr.Tan worked tirelessly to provide the best possible care to all her patients especially the elderly.
Eunice knew every patient at St.Joseph's Nursing Home by name.She was intimately familiar with their problems, wants and needs and always advocated on their behalf.

As a grandmother, I thought that maybe, I was OK.  UNTIL I met Eunice.

We are sad to hear about the passing of Eunice Rigor Tan.  We remember her and husband during the years when we were Resident Physician at Fordham Hospital in the Bronx. We were neighbors in the apartment building too. The last time we saw them was in the late 1969, the year when we moved to Memorial Sloan Kettering.  We still remember them.

We send all of our love to you and your entire family!  Looking through these photos, she was always smiling and looked so proud of her girls and grand children. I hope in the weeks, months and years ahead you will always remember that smile and the love she had for you!  She was very special!

Eunice was a dear friend and treasured member of 'The Women of Cokesbury, and Friends,' a group of her neighbors and friends in our Falls River community.  Our thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones as you honor and remember her.  We will miss her warm, friendly smile and engaging personality.  She was an amazing woman and a role model for all who knew her.  Our memories are filled with images of her with her beloved grandchildren, her delicious potluck dishes which showcased the cuisine of the Philippines, and that ever-present twinkle in her eyes.  It was delightful to see her in the aisle at Harris Teeter because she would ask how you were doing and talk about her grandchildren and children with such joy and enthusiasm.  She was always willing to volunteer and help out with anything, and did it so well and efficiently.  Her garden and home were lovely and enhanced by the wonderful, musical sound of her many bamboo wind chimes hanging on the porch.  We are all better people for having known her because she lived a wonderful life by excellent example.  Though she will be missed so very much, her light will continue to shine in the hearts of those she touched.

I enjoyed working with Mom. Dr.Tan. was a lady that truly cared about her family. She always put others before herself. She was focused on being the best mom and grandmother she could be.  I will always remember our interesting conversations about the Philippines, her work as an MD and her family. She is very sadly missed by our entire team.

I am deeply saddened by the news of Eunice's sudden passing and would like to express my heartfelt condolences to her family. We were close friends in Medical School, being in the same group in all rotations (letter R's) and shared the joys & hardships through all those years! I knew your Grandma & Aunt Jane. In fact , we went to your Grandma's house in San Juan daily for 2 weeks reviewing for our Medical Board Exams. It's sad that we lost track of each other after we all came to the States and it wasn't till about a year ago when we got back in touch with each other thru email & I was trying to convince her to attend last year's UERM Alumni reunion held in Plano, TX, which is only 10 min. Away from where I live now. I will never forget her smiling face and kindhearted personality. I am praying for her eternal repose & will offer perpetual Mass remembrance for her. My name is Marietta D. Carpio Baccay , one of 4 youngest members of our class ( '64). Eunice, I just learned is one of them.

My family also resided in Cubao, Quezon City where your Mom lived. Their house was big and near Aurora Blvd., a ten minute ride to the Medical School and walking distance to the parish church of Cubao, now a cathedral.

Eunice was quiet, fair, had a pretty impish smile and big curls that framed her face, and medyo singkit eyes. ( I guess they would look like so when she smiled). Do add my memories of your Mom .
