Marty was born in the Bronx, New York City on February 17, 1949, to Esther (Pesserilo) and David Nossov. His Jewish upbringing and his New York roots remained important parts of his identity. He received both Hebrew and secular education in childhood and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Queens College and a Master of Business Administration degree from Adelphi University. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserve as a military police officer.
Marty built a successful career in business, starting out as a salesman and working his way up to the executive level before eventually becoming an entrepreneur and business owner. In his retirement he occasionally worked as a substitute teacher.
Marty will be most remembered for his dedication to his family. He shared 30 years of marriage with his wife Alicia (Halloran) Zika, with whom he had two children: Eliott and Maya. He was previously married to Wanda Seidenberg, with whom he had two daughters: Sarah and Dana. Marty was immensely proud of his four children and delighted in being a grandfather to Nathan and Kevin. He was fiercely protective and loving of those he held close and will be deeply missed by them.
Marty will also be remembered for his sense of humor. He was playful, silly, and always looking for a reason to make the people around him laugh – whether through jokes, gag gifts, or the occasional front-yard spectacle. Humor was part of how he approached life, even into his final days. Independent and never shy about sharing his opinions, Marty remained unmistakably himself throughout his life.
Marty is survived by his wife Alicia Nossov; his children Sarah Nossov, Dana Brown, Eliott Nossov, and Maya Nossov; his son-in-law Steve Brown; his grandsons Nathan and Kevin Brown; and his brother, Donald Nossov. He is preceded in death by his parents Esther and David Nossov.
