Mary and I were very close in High School, I have been searching for her for several years now. It was hard to find out that she had just passed recently when I finally found her. So sorry for her families lost. Barbara Goodman

I met Mary at a workshop on Sept. 20th. She was warm and very pleasant to be around. So sorry to hear of her passing away.

Mary was a wonderful person in many ways. She was always helpful and had an upbeat manor to her with a joy for life. We at TAPS were blessed that we knew her. She will be sorely missed.

                                                     Triangle Area TAPS Club

Mary was wonderful to work with. She was always positive and quick to reply. She loved and cared about her husband Bill, her son Will and her "lap dog". She was dedicated to spreading the Hospice philosopy through education. Mary will be terribly missed. Mary's family is in all of our thoughts ad prayers.

Our office just isn't the same without Mary here. I miss her so much.

Mary was a bright light at the Carolinas Center and made everyone feel welcome and special. She always had a smile and you could tell she was happy in life. She will be missed very much.

Mary's family and friends are poorer for our loss, but much richer for having had Mary in our lives. She is missed already by so many of us. Thank you for being a friend, Mary. It's also a sad day for the Tony Stewart Fan Club. It's #1 member is gone.

Bill & Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I will be praying for you and your family. I know you have many special memories of Mary. They will help you through this time.

I do not have words to express the shock that I felt upon hearing of Mary's passing. I just had a Conference Call Meeting with her on September 18, 2013 discussing educational offerings for 2014. Education for hospice employees throughout the Carolinas was one of her passions. I will miss her greatly and I pray that God will bring comfort to her husband and son. To the Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life Care Staff, know that you are not alone and I pray for you; we too moan this great loss! Please know that weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning! Sending love and prayer from the McLeod Hospice of the Pee Dee staff.
Nora Jenkins, McLeod Hospice of Florence SC

I worked with Mary as part of the Education Committee with the Home Care Association. She was a pleasure to work with and so much fun. We planned together with the education committee some awesome programs for the Association. One thing about Mary was she was a happy person and loved planning educational programs. Bill and Will my prayers are with you and I will miss knowing that Mary is no longer with us. God Bless you both and know that he will take care of you during this difficult time.

Thank you Mary, for your wild red hair, your unique laugh; for being the first person I saw most mornings at the TCC office, for those long rides in your crazy Mustang, your 'cool breezes' and 'okey-dokeys'; the afternoon mocha grandes and for making me glad to have known you.

My thoughts are with the family and to her many co-workers and colleagues. Very shocking and sad news. Her loss will be felt for a very long time.

I am a hospice physician who worked with Mary on many occasions to present educational programs at different venues. Part of my willingness to undertake such activities was the opportunity to work with Mary and her gratitude and encouragement. This is a great loss for our profession and to me personally. Larry L. Hedgepath, MD, Hospice of Rutherford County

All of us at Weatherbee and the Hospice Education Network are deeply saddened by Mary's death. She was a quintessential professional and always a pleasure to work with. Our deepest condolences to her family and to her colleagues at TCC.

Mary.... always with a smile and an awesome laugh. With her many years of conferences and planning, she continued to be generous with her time and kindness. We shared a caring skepticism - about most everything. She made it easy to laugh and find joy in living. I will miss her unique world view and spirit.

It was such a pleasure to work with Mary! I got to know her well the past few years. Just several weeks ago, at the Annual Conference in Asheville everyone was so pleased with the overall conference. She glanced at me once and said "I think this was a good one kiddo" and I agreed! My deepest sympathies to Bill, Will and all of your family. The TCC staff will also continue to be in my thoughts. She was a wonderful lady and will be missed by many.

I am so very saddened by Mary's death. I have known Mary for over 25 years and consider her a true friend. She was always so much fun to be around & always willing to help me when I needed it. I was with her last weekend in Ashville & am thankful we got to see one another. She proudly showed me her Red Mustang pictures & I thought it fit her so perfectly. I am going to miss her!!

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I worked with Mary on the Wake Health Litaracy Coalition and enjoyed her ready smile and sharing ideas with her.

I met Mary for the first time about 8 years ago, when I moved from the hospital into the hospice world. What a pleasure it has been to work with Mary over the 6 years I have served on the TCC Board! Mary made it so easy to say "yes" to an assignment, because you always knew she would be right there with you, making the load easier and the work fun. I talked to Mary last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and each time she was her upbeat, fun loving self. I cannot imagine TCC without her fire and spirit, and I know she would encourage us to get to work anyway. I pray God sends his peace and comfort to Mary's family and all who love her, you are in my prayers.

It was my pleasure to have known and worked with Mary as a member of the TCC Board and when she would call for me to present at conferences. Her sense of humor was a joy. She will be missed.

Oh Mary - we will miss you so. When she was our Education Director at AHHC we drove to Asheville together for an educational event and were talking so much we ended up in Tenn. Thoughts are with Bill and Will. Sherry - Association for Home & Hospice Care of NC

What a devastating loss for us all, but particularly for you, her family. I enjoyed talking and being with Mary so much... always a smile or laugh, always willing to help you out. She was so much fun to work with, and what a hard worker she was! I am so very fortunate to have known her and called her my friend. My love and prayers to her husband and son, and to her TCC family as well. She will truly be missed. Chris Dellinger, Hospice & Palliative CareCenter, Winston Salem, NC

I have had the chance to get to know Mary very well over the last eight years and I loved how no matter what was going on in our worlds, when you asked Mary how she was, she would always say, "I'm just perfect!" I loved Mary's candidness and loved calling her my friend. She meant so much to AENC and her passing is a HUGE loss to the association community. She was one of those people that if you ever needed anything, she'd be there for you. I'm going to truly miss our NASCAR conversations and I am sure she will be watching with pride in heaven when "Smoke" starts back racing again next season!

My deepest sympathy to Mary's family. As a presenter at conferences, I had the opportunity to work with Mary on a number of occassions. She was always a pleasure to work with and leaves a great void at Carolinas Center. She will be greatly missed by those she worked with as well as her family.

Mary was wonderful. She was unique as a snow flake,as beautiful as a spring flower, warm as the breeze on a summer night and as refreshing as the fall afternoon. I only know that Bill loves her and she loved Bill. She will live in us forever. I am just thankful that I did get to know her for the short time I did.

Mary was a great leader, planner, mentor, humorist and philanthropist. She will be greatly missed by the Volunteer Managers in NC and SC.

Mary was always "just perfect" every time I talked to her. I always looked forward to hearing her say those words! She was a true friend and will truly be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Beth Bowen, NC Assn for Medical Equipment Services

My sincerest condolences to your family. Mary was always a source of strength, fun and level-headedness during our years of working together on AENC projects. I will miss my dear friend.

Mary was a friend and peer in the association industry and for meeting planning. She was kind, smart and always there when needed. I will miss her dearly.

I first met Mary about 10 yrs ago when we served together in an educational consortium. I was impressed with her “can do” attitude and her faithfulness to attend every meeting here in Greenville. Over the years, I appreciated her creativity in allowing us to “work for registration” during tough budget times; her response when I asked for an educational opportunity in Greenville, she said,“you host it and I'll bring it” and she did. She was a joy to be around, an example of a great work ethic and she made me want to work harder. And, she always made me laugh – I will always remember her sense of humor. I pray for God's peace to comfort her family at home and at work. She will be greatly missed!

I loved Mary. Working with her on a project was fun. My condolences to her family. You will be in my prayers.
Lee Bucci, former executive director, a Gaston Hospice.

I can't believe my dear friend has left us. I will miss her so much! Mary was such a joy to be with. She would make me laugh when I was down and always gave such good matter-of-fact advice. She & Bill have helped me through so much over the years.
My love and prayers are with you Bill & Will.

For me, Mary was the face of the Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life Care (TCC). She was easy to work with, even long distance as many of us did from our hospices to her at TCC. I would laugh when I called, and she would say, "Hi, Kiddo!" My heartfelt condolences go out to her husband and her son, to her extended family and to her family at TCC. Thoughts and prayers are with you.
