

Maryann Bernice Casper, née Merchut, 80, loving wife, dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on October 27, 2022, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Maryann was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Bernice Jurczyk and Walter Merchut on September 9,1942. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1960.
On May 1,1965, Maryann married Thomas Michael Casper at St. Ferdinand Church, Chicago, IL; they were married forty-six years.
Maryann spent her career as a legal secretary, retiring from Motorola in Schaumburg, Illinois. She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially Christmas cookies, reading mystery novels, going to craft shows, following Chicago sports (in particular, the Cubs and the Bears), regular visits with high school friends, and in her later years, everything on TV’s Hallmark Channel.
Maryann and Tom spent many happy years residing in Schaumburg, Illinois, and in 1999, moved to St. Charles, Illinois. They were members of St. Patrick’s Church in St. Charles, Illinois, where Maryann and Tom enjoyed volunteering for Donut Sundays.
Maryann is survived by her brother Tom Merchut, wife Marge (deceased), in Glen Ellyn, Illinois; her sister Vicki Musil, husband Ken, in The Villages, Florida; her daughters Michelle Kappie, husband Kenny, in Raleigh, North Carolina; Carolyn Casper, and fiancé Scott Roth, in Duncan, South Carolina; grandchildren Devin Kappie, in Chicago, Illinois; Caitlyn Robbin, husband Rudy, in South Elgin, Illinois; Zakary Waszak, in South Elgin, Illinois; great grandchild Isabella Tlaczani, in South Elgin, Illinois; numerous nieces and nephews; and a wide circle of dear friends.
Maryann is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Tom.
