Massimino Pasqual Palmieri (Pat) was born in Poughkeepsie, New York on September 27, 1942 to Pasquale and Petronella Palmieri. He passed away peacefully on October 1, 2018 surrounded by the love of his family. Pat was 76 years old.
Growing up in Poughkeepsie, Pat lived in a close- knit family sharing Sunday dinners each week. After high school, he served in the US Army – Civil Engineers/Demolitions Division. Returning home, he married Patricia Page in January 1967. Pat worked at IBM for 32 years which brought him to Raleigh, NC in 1976. Pat retired to Emerald Isle in 1996 where he spent many days enjoying his life’s dream of living at the coast.
He was master of storytelling and could mesmerize a room with each word he spoke. He had a true passion for animals and could usually be found at the beach with one of his dogs over the years. Spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends was special for Pat. He enjoyed discussing family moments, old films, history and trains over a big Italian dinner with homemade sauce. Sharing a laugh and a meal made Pat the happiest. Pat always greeted everyone with the biggest smile and arm in the air waving hello. How we will miss that smile and long for one more story.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Rose Pietrogallo.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia Palmieri, son Vinnie Palmieri of Raleigh, and his wife Teresa Palmieri, his daughter Diane Gilewicz of Raleigh and her husband Bobby Gilewicz along with four grandchildren; Amanda, Joe, Jack and Nick.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 7pm at Browne Wynne Funeral Home 1701 East Millbrook Road, Raleigh NC 27609.
