

Maurice Cheek Sexton, Jr. (Ric to friends and family) , 66, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Rex Hospital after a heart attack. Born in Lexington, NC to Morris and Bertie Sexton he lived his entire life in North Carolina, devoted to his family, his friends, his university, and his profession.
Ric was a passionate man who enjoyed NC State athletics and bled State red. For 32 years he taught all levels of math at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh. In his spare time he enjoyed studying the Civil War, visiting battlefields, tailgating, rooting for the Wolfpack, watching TV, reading, sarcastic wit, and cuddling with the kittens.
He was extremely loving and proud of his son, Sean, and daughter, Erin. He is also survived by his wife, Cynthia Hanna Sexton; his mother, Bertie Everhart Sexton of Lexington; his sister, Sexton of Asheville; as well as his many loving brothers- and sisters-in law, nieces, nephews and other friends. Ric was always there to help with household projects, coaching sports, or whatever else they needed from him.
Funeral services for Ric will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014 from 11:00 until 12:00 PM at the Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E Millbrook Road, Raleigh, North Carolina. The family will receive friends and family at the house, at 5304 Alpine Drive in Raleigh, afterward. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations go to the Wolfpack Club, PO Box 37100, Raleigh, NC 27627-7100.
