Michael John Loktu

Michael John Loktu,65, passed away on October 4, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 3, 1946 in Hammond, Indiana; he was the son of the late Lloyd and Rose Mary Loktu. Michael grew up with sister and brother Christine Yokovich and the late Bruce Loktu. He graduated from Indiana University, served in the Navy and recently retired after a long career in sales.

Michael lived an adventurous life as a snow and jet skier, windsurfer, sailor. He loved to travel and read. He was a talented woodworker and a man of many skills who would do anything for his family and friends.

Michael was a loving husband of 20 years to Joanne Loktu and set an exceptional example for their son, Alexander. " Dad was an amazing father and supporter through thick and thin... to me he is the definition of an amazing person."

Michael was a blessing to everyone he touched. A Celebration of Michael's Life will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 1:30 PM at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home (1701 E. Millbrook Road), with a reception to follow.

Michael was a strong advocate for womens issues. In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored by memorials made to: InterAct of Wake County - 1012 Oberlin Road - Raleigh, NC 27605.
