My prayers and regards to all of Joan's family. She was truly an amazing woman of faith, love, and joy. It was truly an honor to be her pastor at Church of the Covenant in Wilmington for so many years. What a joy to know she is in heaven celebrating the goodness and grace of God! Blessings to you all.

Joan leaves behind many people who loved her, and that love is something she nourished.

I know she was a wonderful person just reading all she did for others her while,life. I know she will be missed by all.

Dear Brian, Gaby, Anne and the rest of the Jone's family. I was so glad to help your mom when she moved from Delaware. She was such a wonderful lady. I remember her so well too from when I was at Mt. Pleasant. My sincere condolences go out to you all.

Colin and family, I am so sorry to hear of your loss.  I pray the love of your friends will comfort you during this sad time of loss and that God's love will fill you with peace. I met her once and she was the definition of "Lady".

I am very blessed to have known Mrs Jones, my French teacher, my parents' dear friend, and a lovely strong example of a mom and mentor.  I will always remember her grace and the time I spent with my parents in Normandy Manor.

It was a real pleasure to have met Joan and to have visited with her on several occasions. She was a joy.

Although I did not know Mrs. Jones, I was reading her obituary simply because I read all the obituaries in the N&O--my way of honoring the deceased. And what an interesting, adventuresome life she led! Suddenly I came upon the name of Wilsie Rohrer, Mrs. Jones's Sorbonne roommate many years ago and one of my early neighbors as a newlywed 33 years ago...small world! I send my sincere sympathy and condolences to the family and friends of Mrs. Jones. I do believe this lady has earned her rest.

Anne & Family, I am saddened to read of the passing of your Mom. While at Mount Pleasant, I counted her among the classiest, most professional and always cordial of my colleagues. My prayers are with you all, and rest in peace my friend.

Mrs. Jones was my high school French teacher at Mount Pleasant High School.  She introduced me to the French language (which nearly drove me crazy at first with all of the le, la and les) and started my love affair with Europe, in earnest. I grew up reading every book I could get my hands on from the library at my elementary school on up through university and I still can't get enough. I read about all of our Presidents, Miss Marple mysteries and about Europe as I knew, even then, it was my destiny! I will never forget Mrs. Jones! We had a thing...going on...a French thing...fourth period every day! Her obituary was exquisitely written, but very much in keeping with Mrs. Jones and all she meant to us! Thank you! R.I.P. And, my deepest condolences to her family and friends...your mother deeply influenced my life and was one of those teachers who one never forgets and who who shaped me, helped to mold my character and my future.  (Mme. Jones... Je vous remercie pour l'ouverture de la porte vers un monde tout nouveau pour moi. Repose en paix.)

Her pleas of "En Francais, class!"  only ever lasted a few days into the school year before she gave up in frustration, but she was still a good teacher who we loved! Bon nuit, Madame Jones! RIP! Jim Harlan , MTP '75
