Nancy Rose Weisenbacher Anderson Rosenstiel of Raleigh, NC passed away Wednesday July 11th 2018 from complications due to dementia. A private burial service is planned for Saturday July 21st.
Nancy was born on March 19th, 1930 to Karl and Emma Weisenbacher of Brooklyn, NY. Her family moved to Hauppauge, Long Island when Nancy was 10. After graduation from high school, Nancy worked as a fashion model for the garment district in NYC during the early 1950s. While there, she met and married Carl “The Swede” Anderson.
Carl and Nancy lived in Waco/ Houston, TX, New City, NY, and moved to Raleigh, NC, in 1964, with the first wave of IBM employees to RTP. Together they raised three children. In 1990, Nancy married Lee Rosenstiel. They enjoyed many happy years together until health issues forced their physical separation in 2014.
Nancy always loved fashion and design. She was a gifted seamstress and made clothes for herself, daughters, granddaughters, and dolls. She made beautiful jewelry, enjoyed floral design, and knitting. She loved the theater, movies, and traveling, especially to Chicago and was a devoted Cubs fan. Apart from being a wonderful homemaker, she worked as a part time book keeper. In her later years, she worked at the information desk at Crabtree Valley Mall where she was also a dedicated “mall walker”. Her greatest pleasure in life however, was spending time with her family.
Though she endured many struggles in life and dementia slowly took her away, her gentle, loving spirit continually remained. She always smiled, and her beautiful, big, blue eyes lit up when she saw her loved ones. As difficult as these last years have been, she was kind, appreciative and never complained. Her presence will be dearly missed but she will live on in our hearts forever.
In addition to her parents, Nancy is preceded in death by her brother, Karl Weisenbacher, and first husband, Carl Anderson. She leaves behind her children, Carla Anderson Morris and her husband, Frank, Kim Anderson Ligotino and her husband, John, Jason Carl Anderson and his wife, Nancy. Nancy is also survived by her husband, Lee Rosenstiel of Freeport, IL and 10 grandchildren: Jon Morris, Kristin Morris, Ben Ligotino, Rachel Holcombe, Elizabeth Burns, Lauren Morris, Danielle Ligotino, Jared Morris, Austin Hackney and Ava Anderson, four great-grandchildren and 2 nephews.
