Patricia “Pat” Edwards Booker, age 86, died peacefully on November 3, 2020 in her home at Magnolia Glen surrounded by her loving family. She is preceded in death by her parents, John W. Edwards and Lula P. Edwards, her devoted husband John P. Booker Jr., her sisters Janice E. Brown, Jackie E. Tedder, Romaine E. Gregory and grandson Steven A. Christos.

Pat retired from the State Bureau of Investigations after 30 years of service with the State of North Carolina. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister who always put her family first. Pat had a warm welcoming smile and a caring hug for everyone. She had a unique talent for creating and designing, including cakes, greeting cards, floral arrangements, wreaths and fashion jewelry. She also excelled at cooking, knitting and crocheting. One of her favorite past times was knitting baby caps and donating them to various local hospitals.
She was an active member of the Raleigh Moravian Church. She served multiple years as a diener, an officer of the Women’s fellowship, and the “prime timers” senior women’s organization. Pat was also a member of the Raleigh Flower Shuttle and leader of craft activities for the annual Moravian candle tea held each December.
Over the years, she enjoyed traveling with her family, playing cards and bingo. She loved to decorate for Christmas, especially her tree with all moving ornaments. She gained much pleasure when friends and family would come over to see her fabulous creation.
She liked to fish, especially using “biscuit” dough for bait and often would be seen shooting her Red Rider BB gun with her grandchildren. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her much joy and happiness throughout her blessed life.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, November 7, 2020 in the Moravian Church Section, God’s Acres, at the Historic Oakwood Cemetery, 701 Oakwood Ave. Raleigh, NC 27601.

Sending heartfelt condolences to the family! I had a special friendship with Pat during the time my mom lived at Magnolia Glen. She was such a special person & always greeted me with a smile & hug. Pat would also call me after my mom passed away to check on me. I was so saddened to hear about the loss of this beautiful lady! I live two blocks from the cemetery & will visit her often during my walks.
Sending love & prayers.

Pat and John were both good friends with my husband Frank and me for many years. Frank and John enjoyed singing together in our church choir. Frank passed away many years ago, and John passed away a couple of years together. Pat and I shared many happy memories of them. Now I know she is with them in heaven. May God bless you my dear friend. I will always miss you and will treasure our many happy times together. With love, Karen
