Patricia Fleming Flemming Shannon

Patricia Fleming Shannon died peacefully on June 1, 2016 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. While we are saddened by our loss, we celebrate her faith in our Lord. She is preceded in death by her late husband of 49 years, John Shannon; her parents, Edward and Kathleen Fleming; her brother-in-law, Don Hanifin; her brother-in-law and wife, Gerry and Wanda Shannon; and her nephew, Scott Fleming.

Pat was born in Springfield, Mass. on Jan. 6, 1932 and grew up there attending Cathedral High School. She graduated from Regis College with a degree in Home Economics. She met the love of her life, John in eighth grade and they married in 1956.

Pat was wholly into family, she was a devoted wife and mother. She was blessed with nine children over ten years, and earned a doctorate degree in Motherhood, if there was such a thing. She found strength and purpose in her Catholic faith. She lived her life with such grace. Pat was a loving and kind person who touched many lives. She never missed an opportunity to support her family and friends, lend a helping hand or offer a kind gesture.

Pat is survived by her nine children; son, Mark Shannon and wife, Marilyn; daughters, Kathy Belich, Terri Sage, Debbie Southwick and husband Dan, Patti Smith and husband Mike; sons, John Shannon, Tim Shannon and wife Beth, Eddie Shannon and wife Tracey, Stephen Shannon and wife Julie; 26 adoring grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and 19 nieces and nephews; her brothers Ted Fleming and wife Jane; David Fleming and wife Barbara; and sisters Joan Hanifin and Kathy Fleming.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm on June 6, 2016 at Brown- Wynne Funeral Home at 1701 E. Millbrook Rd. Raleigh, NC 27609. The funeral mass will be at 12:00 on June 7, 2016 at Saint Raphael Catholic Church at 5801 Falls of Neuse Rd. Raleigh, NC 27609. Tributes may be sent to the family at www.brownwynne.com
