Paul is survived by his wife June Campbell , children Karen C MacDonald in Boston, MA and Todd W. Campbell in Athens GA, also many extended family in New England. He was predeceased by his siblings Walter, William, John, Floreen, and Pauline.
Paul joined the US Army at the age of 17. He served in Korea, Vietnam, Japan, and Ethiopia. He was honorably retired from service in 1970 as a Sergeant First Class USSF 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) 1st SF. During his service he received numerous commendations including The Bronze Star for Heroism and Outstanding Special Forces Soldier of the Year 1962.
After retiring from the military Paul was an executive assistant to the US Attorney (Eastern District NC) Department of Justice for 20 years.
Paul was very involved with resettlement projects for Montagnard refugees in the US. He continued to be involved with the Montagnard community throughout the remainder of his life.
Paul’s life will be celebrated on Saturday April 6, 2013 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh NC 27609 at 2:00 PM. His family will receive friends following the service.
