Paul Morehouse was born June 25, 1939 in Carmel, New York. He graduated from Carmel High in 1957. He then attended Syracuse University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. While attending Syracuse, Paul worked as the head equipment manager for the National Champion Syracuse football team beating Texas in the 1959 Cotton Bowl. After graduating from Syracuse, Paul began his professional career as a high school social studies teacher and high school counselor in Syracuse NY. Paul also earned his Master of Education in Counseling degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, as well as, being awarded an honorary Doctor of Education degree from the University of Nebraska. By the mid 1960's Paul took a position as a National Staff Member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). He was first based at FCA's National Headquarters in Kansas City Mo., and then as Southeastern U.S Regional Director, serving eight states while based in Atlanta, Ga. After leaving the FCA, Paul moved to Charlotte, NC working as a coordinator of the Employee Assistance Program, providing assessment and counseling to employees and family members. In September 2011, Paul retired in Raleigh, N.C. where he continued to stay active in his community.
More than anything, Paul loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His kind nature was always on the lookout for a need to serve. He was a man who did not think too highly of himself, making himself available and useful to all of his neighbors. Paul believed by faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and because of this he is now face to face with our Lord. We rejoice with Paul and are comforted together with him by the mutual faith that is in Christ Jesus. With the same spirit of Christ that lives in Paul, we likewise owe to all of you who may not know the "simplicity that is in Christ": and that is "For by grace we are saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Being justified by His Grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus; Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God: To declare, I say at this time His righteousness; that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: by whom also we have access by faith into this Grace wherein we stand and rejoice in hope of the glory of God."
To Paul, our friend and brother in Christ we say:
We miss you, but we will see you soon; Until then we pray for “eyes of our understanding being enlightened; that we may know what is the hope of His calling, and what the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,” and that we may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ”
