Born in Newark, New Jersey, in 1956, Ramona grew up in Red Bank and Tinton Falls, graduating from Monmouth Regional High School.
A woman of sharp intellect and professional dedication, Ramona attended the prestigious Katharine Gibbs Secretarial College in Montclair, NJ. She began her career working at the historic Bell Labs (later known as AT&T). In 1987, she relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina, where she continued to build a vibrant life. She brought her talents to Exide Electronics Group, and later dedicated more than 20 years at Bosch Packaging (formerly known as Sig Packaging), from which she officially retired in January 2023. Ever energetic and a true lover of her community, she also dedicated more than 20 years to the Green Road Community Center, until June 2023.
Ramona was known for her fiercely engaging personality. She loved being highly involved in her neighborhood Homeowners Association (HOA)—or as her family fondly remembers, "being in everyone's business" in the most loving and protective way possible. Above all, she had passion and unwavering love for her family and friends, bringing laughter, sharp wit, and an unforgettably vibrant energy to everyone she met.
She was predeceased by her beloved mother, Juanita H. Booth; father, Donald Kearney; step-father, Warren H. Booth, Sr.; step-sister, Wanda Fisher; and step-brother, Warren H. Booth, Jr.
She is survived by her ex-husband, Jon L. Cummings, Sr. of Port St. Lucie, FL; her devoted children, Marlena Young (Nikita Young) of Knightdale, NC, and Jon L. Cummings, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA; her brother, Stephen L. Kearney (Constance Kearney) of Alton, VA; her six cherished grandchildren, Nya Cummings, Justyn Young, Brianna Young, Jordan Cummings, Jaxon Cummings, and Jayden Cummings; one great-grandson, Ja'Mari Young; and three nieces, Ashley Hill, Brie Kearney, and Koree Kearney. Ramona’s legacy of love, humor, and strength lives on through her family.
