Regina Boggess Conner, beloved mother, aunt and GiGi to her adoring grandchildren and friends, slipped away in her sleep to be with her Lord on August 24th, 2015. To know Regina was to bask in the glow and warmth of her sunny disposition. Elegant in every way, Regina had a distinctive style – it was always a treat to see her and to be with her.
A strong woman, she was an example to us all; embracing life’s blessings with gratefulness and facing the challenges with grace. Regina taught us to always put our best foot forward, preferably in a snazzy shoe! She was a fabulous listener, and her charming laughter was your reward for a story well told. A deeply compassionate person, she was as wise as she was kind. Being on the receiving end of her gaze with her knowing baby-blues was such good luck because you just knew she was on your side.
Born in Vinton, Virginia to the late Talmadge and Grace Boggess, Regina married her high school sweetheart William (Bill) A.F. Conner in 1950. Happily married for 56 years, they raised three daughters together in Raleigh, NC. Bill predeceased Regina in 2007.
Devoted to her family, Regina also found time to support her church family and community. Regina leaves behind her biggest fan base, her daughters Andrea (Tony) Page, Melanie (Dan) Conner-Campbell and Kimberly Dee, “K-Dee” (Chris) Leith. GiGi will be remembered with love and devotion by her grandchildren Amanda Conner Wicker (Eric), Caitlin Grace Leith, Christopher Conner Leith, and great-granddaughter Catherine Carmody Wicker, all of whom were the center of her universe. Regina is also survived by her dear and loyal friend, Gwen Bush.
Please join us in a celebration of Regina’s life at Trinity Baptist Church on Monday, August 31 at 2:00 p.m. It was Regina’s wish that all memorial donations go to support her beloved church at Trinity Baptist Church, 4815 Six Forks Rd, Raleigh, NC 27609.
Even though we will miss her, she has given us years of unconditional love, laughter and guidance, as well as the confidence to help us navigate this astounding loss in our lives.
We will hold close in our hearts the sound of Regina’s voice, the sound of her laughter, and her keen and often witty insights on dealing with life’s vicissitudes.
Arrangements under the direction of Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Raleigh, NC.
